Lidded Casserole Dish with Oak Leaves

$145.00

Bring joy and festivity to your table with this elegant lidded casserole dish. Handmade from durable stoneware clay, this piece can go straight from your oven to your table and stand up to everyday use. It would make a lovely fall or winter wedding gift. It holds one quart comfortably, and is about 8.5"x5" (lid on, and to the handles.)

This piece was first thrown on a pottery wheel, then after some drying time, trimmed. Large hand-pulled handles (they make lifting this piece easy when wearing oven mitts) and their embellishments were added. I make the oak leaves by rolling out clay slabs and cutting the shapes, and I adhere these to the pot's lid. I carve them and wait for the whole piece to dry very slowly. After it's gone through its first firing, the casserole is then lined with white glossy glaze and brushed with a champagne colored glaze on its leaves. It is then fired again to its final form. It is now ready to be packed and shipped to you!

* This piece is made of stoneware clay and is oven safe. Best practices are to place the pot in a cool oven, and let the pot and food come up to temperature with the oven slowly and gently, and similarly cool the pot slowly as well, avoiding thermal shock. Please note: this piece is not suitable for going onto a stovetop or over any kind of direct heat source, such as a flame, campfire, electric stovetop coil, etc. Please use caution when handling hot pieces.
